Safeguarding Leadership for Education

Leadership and welfare support on flexible terms

I offer flexible safeguarding leadership and welfare support for schools, colleges, and alternative provision, helping to reduce reliance on agency staff and provide continuity for students and staff.

I can step in as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or senior safeguarding practitioner on a short-term, long-term, or interim basis. By working directly with you rather than through an agency, I provide experienced, consistent safeguarding support while helping to keep staffing costs under control.

  • Leading on day-to-day safeguarding and child protection
  • Developing and implementing safeguarding strategy and action plans
  • Providing advice and support to staff on complex cases
  • Strengthening recording, referrals and multi-agency working
  • Offering interim SLT-level support where safeguarding and welfare are central to the role

When safeguarding teams need experienced cover

Primary and secondary schools, colleges, and AP settings face growing pressure on safeguarding leads. I help providers stay steady through audits, inspections, and staff absence, with clear recording, confident referrals, and safeguarding culture that staff can sustain after I leave.

  • Interim DSL or senior safeguarding practitioner cover
  • Sickness, vacancy, and peak-demand support
  • Short-term, long-term, and interim arrangements
  • Safeguarding audits and Ofsted preparation
  • Quality assurance and action-plan follow-through

Development and family engagement for education providers

Education providers need more than interim cover when staff confidence, student culture, or family context affect how safeguarding is understood and recorded. In those situations, practical development work and culturally informed family engagement help safeguarding leadership stick after cover ends.

Colleges and alternative provision

AP and college settings often need safeguarding leadership that understands complex cohorts, high mobility, and multi-agency risk. I bring over 15 years' experience across education and statutory partners, with a calm, trauma-informed approach.

  • Interim DSL cover in AP and college settings
  • Support for high-mobility and complex cohorts
  • Inspection preparation and sustained safeguarding culture

Staff development and student-facing work

Practical training and student-facing sessions that strengthen safeguarding culture beyond the DSL role, tailored to your setting and pastoral curriculum.

  • Staff inductions on safeguarding expectations and culture
  • Topic assemblies for students and staff
  • Bespoke workshops and coaching for safeguarding leads

Bilingual family engagement

Culturally informed family engagement that complements DSL leadership, with safeguarding insight woven into how communication is understood and acted on.
